Jealousy from Eight Horse Hemp
Genetic Background
The Jealousy strain was created by Seed Junky Genetics and is a cross between Sherbert Bx1 and Gelato 41, both of which are very popular strains. Jealousy was the 2022 Leafly Strain of the Year after its introduction to the market in 2019 and quickly gained popularity, especially in the Southern California market. This specific pheno of Jealousy from Eight Horse Hemp is a balanced hybrid strain with a 50/50 Indica to Sativa ratio.
Sherbert Bx1 is a hybrid strain that leans more towards the Indica side. It's a backcross (hence the "Bx1") of the original Sherbert strain. Sherbert itself is a cross between Pink Panties and Girl Scout Cookies, known for its potent effects. Sherbert Bx1 inherits these traits and often features a rich terpene profile that includes Caryophyllene, Limonene, and Myrcene.
Gelato 41 is one of the phenotypes of the original Gelato strain, which is a cross between Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. This particular phenotype is famous for its high THC content and is often used for its potent psychoactive effects. Gelato 41 features a sweet and fruity aroma with earthy undertones, thanks to its rich terpene profile that often includes Myrcene, Caryophyllene, and Limonene.
When Sherbert Bx1 and Gelato 41 come together to create Jealousy, the result is a harmonious blend of their best traits.
Appearance
Jealousy's buds are a visual treat, featuring a vibrant palette of deep greens and subtle purples, accented by fiery orange pistils. The trichomes are generously scattered, giving the buds a frosty appearance that hints at their potency. The bud structure is dense yet slightly fluffy, making it easy to break apart for a smooth grind. The attention to detail in the curing process is evident, as the buds are neither too dry nor too moist, striking the perfect balance for an optimal smoking experience.
Effects and Experience
Upon opening the jar, the first thing you'll notice is the aroma that fills the air. The strain has a rich terpene profile featuring Caryophyllene, Myrcene, and Limonene, which contribute to its earthy yet citrusy scent. The buds are dense and well-cured, with a moisture content of 11.4% so it is a smooth smoke, not harsh at all.
The effects of Jealousy are as balanced as its genetic makeup. You'll experience a slight cerebral stimulation that's invigorating but not overwhelming. At the same time, the Indica side kicks in to provide a relaxing body high that's calming but not sedating. A lot of strains are supposed to be balanced, but this one really is in my opinion.
This is a great strain for when you're looking for a balanced, non-disruptive experience that flows along with your day. It's a great choice for daytime use, but it's also a good option for nighttime use when you want to unwind without feeling sleepy. In my anecdotal experience, I've found that Jealousy is a great strain for when you have an upset stomach or are feeling nauseous but it's like 1pm and you have things to do.
